Our goal is to "Inspire Student-Athletes Academically as well as Athletically!"

So the statistics that we've heard is that Philadelphia has a 34% graduation rate. UNACCEPTABLE to not only the student-athletes, but to parents, and to coaches, and to the community. When youth are not graduating from high school, not only are they 68% likely to live in poverty, but they are 43% more likely to commit crime. So what happens to these kids once they get past middle school do they NOT want to graduate high school? WHat do you think we can do as a community to encourage these kids to WANT to graduate?

I know our target niche is student-athletes. Because I know that I can't help over 175,000 students in the school district of Philadelphia. But what I think can be done is to encourage student-athletes to become leaders to their peers just as I witness the Philadelphia Phillies win the World Series in 5 games and not only did the entire city party on their behalf win the won the division, but 2.2 million people celebrated with a parade and a pep rally-style celebration in both of our major sports stadiums. All because the "TEAM" wont he world series. And I'm pretty sure that 90% of those people celebrating don't have stock in the Phillies or have a family member playing for the Phillies. But people supported the team beacuse they were the home team. So why not cheer on a neighborhood high school football team? Or attend a high school basketball of your alma mater if you graduated from a Philly High School or beyond for that matter.

But this forum is to challenge everyone to offer your opinion on what you think constructively can be done to proactively motivate student-athletes to be inspired academically as well as athletically. We have a campaign called the Opportunity for Student-Athlete Campaign. Check it out and let us know what you think of the website. Its primarily about issues that involve student-athletes. Its our Scholastic Campaign, similar to a political campaign, but this is about improving the quality of life.
